If I were going to die tomorrow, I must be very scared and regret I think. Because there are so many things I haven't done yet. There are so many people I am loath to part with or leave. But what will I write on my tomb? To be honest, I haven't think about this question ever.
If only one word, what kind of words will I choose? I think I will choose the "self-control". Because it is the ability that I am lacking in. But at the same time, it is also a very very important ability.
I can't emphasize the significance of self-control too much. When someone is studying, if he doesn't have an ability of self-control, he may can't persevere in his learning rather than do something he likes. When someone is angry, if he doesn't he can't control his emotion well, he may outburst and say something bad which really hurt others. When he calms down, he may regret what he did. Nevertheless, some hurt once done, is irreversible.
In addition, under most circumstance, self-control is closely related to persistence. Without the ability of self-control, you can't stick to doing something. Without persistence, you will not succeed.
In conclusion, whatever we do, we should always control ourselves well. But I'm not saying to ask you to suppress your mood all the time but try to restrain yourself of some less important appetites when you are doing something meaningful. Only in this way, can we be the best that we can be.

回复删除Thank you for sharing your thought. Self-control is an important ability, no doubt. It needs to be honed and developed with high level of sensitivity and great care so that you won't be affected by your surroundings. Learning how to control yourself is a cognitive process that requires long duration in order to somewhat really achieve this state of mind. However, once you get through it, it sure benefits you. Do you think you've reached the level of "self-control" yet?
Wow~ It's a really attractive topic for me. And I'll think about this question for a long while as well. I think I do agree your opinion that Self-control refers to the ability of an individual to self-regulate behavior and match it with personal values and social expectations. It can trigger or stop specific behaviors, such as suppressing impulsive behavior, resisting temptation, delaying satisfaction, formulating and completing behavioral plans, and taking A behavioral approach that adapts to social situations.
回复删除I really like the sentences, "Self-control is closely related to persistence. Without the ability of self-control, you can't stick to doing something. Without persistence, you will not succeed." Also, I totally agree with your point. For me, I always tell myself that I need "more self-control" when I am doing something that I need to get it done and right. This is a very useful word, and not only the word itself, but its meaningful perspective.
回复删除I agree that " when someone is angry, if he can't control his emotion well, he may outburst and say something bad which really hurt others. When he calms down, he may regret what he did. Nevertheless, some hurt once done, is irreversible."
回复删除I did this kind of things when I was a little girl, it hurts other people and myself. It is wrong. I won't do that again, I have to be responsible for what I said.
Think more than twice before saying is important for everyone.
