will phones kill letter writing?

will phones kill letter writing? Nowadays, young people choose to phone more frequently than write letters to each other. I have no answer to the question when we have stepped into the Information Age. But I'm sure both of them have their benefits.
As for letters, from my perspective, it has the following advantages. First, letters can express your subtle feelings. Sometimes when you are speaking to someone that you love and care on the phone, you are so shy that it is hard to express your feeling towards him or her. At this time, letters will help since you can pour out your deep concern and love on a piece of paper without embarrassment. When you drop the letter into the pillar-box, you will feel what he or she will receive is not only a letter but also your deepest love. Secondly, letters can be kept as a record of memory while phones cannot. When you open an old box of letters and read them several years later, you will experience the beautiful and sweet memories of the past. What an exciting and irreplaceable feeling it is! But you can't enjoy the feeling through phone calls.
Nevertheless, with the rapid development of society, people become too busy to write a long letter. Phone calls can step over the barrier between time and space. Video phone calls even can make people be personally on the scene. When we see the face of the person we missed, when we heard the voice of the person we love, we will feel happy. These are the functions that letters don't have.
As for me, I will not write letters to contact with others but I like collecting postcards. Up to now, I have collected hundreds of postcards all around the world. Every time I went to a new place I will send postcards to my friends, my relatives even myself! By the way, there are so many beautiful and special postcards made in Taiwan! I like them sooooo much~

  1. When we have stepped into the Information Age is our generation face big issue and we can't hide it actually. We often choose phone than letters to convey each other feelings nowadays. I thought some important thing have to say with letters not a phone, as you said, the record in your heart with great memories. The postcards are also a good way to express feeling.

  2. I love the sentences " sometimes when you are speaking to someone that you love and care on the phone, you are so shy that it is hard to express your feeling towards him or her. At this time, letters will help since you can pour out your deep concern and love on a piece of paper without embarrassment."
There are many things that is hard to say by myself, then I will write it down or transform it into message. This helps me to explain more comfortable and more detail. So I prefer write it down to phone someone.

It's true that nowadays people are becoming busier that sometimes writing a letter might be a waste of time to them, sort of. I cannot agree with you more on this point. Writing postcards can be an alternative solution which acts as a marker of places you've been. Though I don't have the habit of writing postcards, my cousins do. Means of communication diversify in various ways. I prefer talking face to face to writing though. I like the structure of your post. It's really consistent. Furthermore, this sentence "When you drop the letter into the pillar-box, you will feel what he or she will receive is not only a letter but also your deepest love." really moves me. Looking forward to your next posts. So long~
